How the calculator works

A short, honest explanation of what the calculator does, what it does not do, and why every result is an estimate based only on the numbers you enter.

The short version

The calculator takes the numbers you type and does plain arithmetic with them. It does not look up prices, rates, or benchmarks anywhere, and it does not assume how long anything "should" take. If a number is in your result, it came from a number you entered.

What it calculates

For each wedding, it adds up the editing-stage hours you provide (First-pass photo editing, Culling, Video editing, Reels, Albums, Revisions). Then it estimates:

  • Estimated backlog hours: your per-wedding hours multiplied by the weddings waiting for delivery.
  • Estimated backlog cost: those backlog hours multiplied by the internal hourly value you set.
  • Estimated cost per wedding: your per-wedding editing hours multiplied by your hourly value.
  • Estimated monthly editing workload: your per-wedding hours multiplied by the weddings you book per month, if you provide that optional number.
  • Likely bottleneck: the editing stage with the most hours, or the bottleneck you select.
  • Recommended workflow category: a direction to explore, mapped from your likely bottleneck.
This is an estimate based on your inputs. Actual workload varies by shooting style, file volume, editing style, client expectations, revision scope, footage complexity, and delivery standards.

What it does not do

It does not guarantee editing quality, client satisfaction, delivery time, revenue, bookings, or specific savings. It is a planning aid to help you see where your hours and cost concentrate, not a quote and not financial advice.

Why no benchmark numbers

Editing time and rates vary enormously by studio, region, shooting style, and scope. Publishing a single "market" figure would be misleading, so the calculator stays grounded in your own inputs. You can change any input and watch the estimate change with it.

Before backlog becomes burnout

Plan a cleaner delivery workflow.

Run the numbers, then get a tailored workflow breakdown based on your queue. We review every request and follow up manually. Estimates only, no guarantees.
